Datenight_smallteaser "Date Night" (PG-13) is the movie at Telluride's Nugget Theatre the week of Friday, May 7-Thursday, May 13. Say your marriage is a little bland, a lot tied up with kids and jobs. How about a special night out to liven things up? No reservations at the fancy new Manhattan restaurant? No worries, just be proactive, so that when the couple who DID have a reservation don't show up, you are ready. Would some mob-controlled cops and self-inflicted mistaken identity spice things up? Well then, hang on. 'Cause that's the maguffin in "Date Night."

Telluride Inside... and Out is in Bellevue, Washington, strategising and getting technical issues solved. Daughter Kimm Viebrock is listed as "head geek" on our organization list, so TIO has spent the better part of the past week with faces buried in our computers. We have been working hard during the days, but there has also been time to enjoy family.

Grandson Matthew Nesteroff had a busy weekend: it began with a jazz band contest on Friday morning. Matthew is in the trumpet section of the Chinook Middle School band, and this was our first chance to hear him play in concert. We enjoyed the opportunity, and the band sounded great. For Matthew, that was just the beginning. In addition he was an "Evil Eel" in the Bellevue Youth Theatre production of "The Little Mermaid." We went Friday evening, and once again were proud of our boy's artistic abilities. The cast played to full houses for three more performances: a matinee and an evening show on Saturday, and a matinee on Sunday.

Kickass_smallposter Resized_How_To_Train_Your_Dragon_poster The Nugget Theatre in beautiful downtown Telluride has three movies on the bill for the week of Friday, April 30-Thursday, May 6. The early movie through the weekend is "How to Train your Dragon", rated PG. This is not your typical "boy-meets-dragon" story. Hiccup, a wise-guy Viking kid, will ultimately change the course of Viking history.

R rated "Kick Ass" posits a would-be super-hero with a problem: he has no super powers. He can't leap tall buildings at a single bound, can't bend steel with a hard look; you get the picture. But that doesn't keep him from inspiring a bunch of copycats, and of course, a bunch of super-villains. Not made for kids.

Thebountyhunter_smallteaser "The Bounty Hunter" (PG-13) starts with an interesting premise: wouldn't it be great to be a bounty hunter with a mandate to bring in your ex-wife. No story without a few twists, right?

5:00 HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON   1hr 38min  PG
     7:00 KICK ASS                   1hr 58min  R

Clashofthetitans_smallteaser2 Howtotrainyourdragon_smallfinal "How to Train Your Dragon" is the early movie all week at Telluride's Nugget Theatre. It is rated PG but viewer reviews indicate that even young kids are enjoying the movie, and the critics mostly agree. Animation, a too-smart boy, an injured dragon... Sounds like a good family evening.

Perseus has his job cut out for him: the mortals have had it with dealing with the whims of the gods on Olympus. "Clash of the Titans" (PG-13) is Homer on steroids. Zeus has given him a number of tasks, as readers of Greek mythology will remember: capturing Pegasus, dealing with Medusa, etc. Roger Ebert liked it- good enough for me.

Tia 1 "Tia Fuller’s sophomore release on Mack Avenue, "Decisive Steps," is a beautiful, musical journey. It has been a wonderful experience, watching Tia blossom from an eager music student in high school, to being known as one of the “up and coming” saxophonists and composers in the jazz world. Just like the Montgomery and Marsalis families, Denver’s Fuller Family is filled with talent and their musical roots run deep."

Telluride Inside... and Out has spent a whirlwind week in Denver. Friday evening we caught Tia Fuller's set at Denver jazz hotspot, Dazzle. Fuller was in town celebrating the recent release of her CD, "Decisive Steps" for the Mack Avenue label.

Telluride folks travel to a wide variety of destinations, and much of that travel takes place in Telluride's slower seasons, early Spring and late Fall. TIO is no exception. But this Spring we decided to see some parts of Colorado we haven't spent enough...
