As summer winds to a close and the school year returns, we hope you are spending time outdoors enjoying the beautiful scenery. The Telluride Historical Museum has a lot coming up in the month of August: a film screening with acclaimed documentarian Ken Burns, our annual fundraising Dinner Party event, new resources, a Hike into History, and more!

August is one of the biggest months for the museum!

On August 21st, we are hosting our annual Telluride Dinner Party at the home of Sally Puff Courtney. Before dinner, guests will have a chance to tour the KOTO station and learn more about the subject of our annual exhibit. Be sure to come hungry! Will Nolan, of BlackSalt Hospitality will be providing a delicious meal, and speakers from KOTO will be sharing amazing stories. Purchase your tickets here.

On August 24th, Ken Burns will be joining us for “An Evening with Ken Burns,” where we will be screening Episode 3 of “Country Music: The Hillbilly Shakespeare.”

Join for the screening, a Q&A, and get your favorite book signed after the screening. Tickets can be found here.

On August 23rd, we invite you to join us outside for a Hike into History with Matt Steen.

Matt will be sharing his knowledge of historic water systems, pipelines, dams and diversions in Telluride on a hike up Mill Creek. Find your tickets here.

Looking for something a little closer to town? Historic Walking Tours are still taking place every Tuesday and Thursday at 1 p.m.! The 1.15-minute tours are led by world-class raconteur Ashley Boling. Tickets cost $10 for members, and $15 for non-members and will continue through mid-October.

If you’ve already begun your back to school planning, you might be an educator. The Telluride Museum is excited to share a page full of educator resources for your classroom, and welcomes you to bring your classes to our museum. Resources include interdisciplinary lesson plans, articles and digital tools for students of all ages. Check them out here, and stay tuned for more to come!

See you soon!

Sincerely,
Your Museum Family
