We hold certain truths to be self-evident – and part of local lore. Thanks to the efforts of two long-haired hippies and visionaries, Jim Bedford and Jerry Greene KOTO-FM indie radio station was legally broadcasting on October 3, 1975.
Fifty years later, this regional sacred cow – pure, freeform community radio– is going for the gold with a series of events planned from June – October, as follows.

The event is from 5 to 8 p.m. on Pine Street in front of KOTO headquarters at 207 N. Pine St. All are welcome. Free admission.
6/12:The public opening of the Telluride Historical Museum’s annual exhibit, “A Rare Medium, Well Done: 50 Years of KOTO-FM.” The exhibit opening is free and open to the public. 5-8 p.m.
