Farrell brings deep expertise in leadership and governance from her distinguished career at McKinsey & Company, where she served as a Senior Partner; sat on the Partner’s Evaluation Committee; and founded and directed the McKinsey Center for Government, as well as the McKinsey Global Institute.
In addition, Farrell serves as Vice Chair at the Urban Institute; is on the Executive Committee at the National Bureau of Economic Research; is a Director at the Pew Charitable Trusts; and a trustee at the Institute for Applied and Practical Mathematics, a National Sciences Foundation Center at the University of California Los Angeles. She was the founding President and Chief Executive Officer of the JPMorgan Chase Institute.
Farrell also served in the Obama White House as Deputy Director of the National Economic Council and Deputy Assistant to the President on Economic Policy. In that capacity she led the interagency process on behalf of the President on a broad range of initiatives, including the financial reform agenda, which resulted in the Dodd Frank Act; housing finance policy; innovation and competition policy. She was a member of the Auto Recovery Task Force overseeing the restructuring of the auto sector.
“I am honored to step into the role of board chair at such an exciting time for Telluride’s arts community,” said Farrell. “The arts are at the heart of our town’s identity, and I look forward to working alongside my fellow board members, our new executive director Jessica Galbo, and all our community partners to strengthen and expand opportunities for creativity, connection, and cultural growth.”
The board also elected Penelope Gleason, former chairperson, as its new Treasurer, effective Monday, August 25, 2025.
“My husband and I have been lifelong supporters of the arts,” said Gleason.“We know how essential they are—not only to the economic vitality of our community but also to the enrichment and enjoyment of residents and visitors. ”
Farrell and Gleason’s appointments align with the selection of Jessica Galbo as Executive Director, marking a new chapter of leadership for Telluride Arts.
The Telluride Arts board of directors extends its sincere gratitude to Edward (Ned) Powell and Chris Harden for their dedicated service as President and Chair and Treasurer, respectively. Their leadership and commitment have been instrumental in advancing Telluride Arts and enriching the broader community.
