San Miguel County: Behavioral Health Strategic Plan, Meetings, 3/24+

San Miguel County: Behavioral Health Strategic Plan, Meetings, 3/24+

The following is a note from County Commissioner Anne Brown.

One of the top three priorities of the San Miguel County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) for 2024-25 is to increase access to behavioral health services across the region.  Behavioral health (BH) is the umbrella term that encompasses mental health issues and substance misuse, which are widely known to be of special concern in remote mountain communities such as ours.

An important step in increasing access to BH services is to understand what services exist today and which are missing. To that end, the BOCC has commissioned a 5-year strategic plan by The Steadman Group, which will assess the current situation and make recommendations on how to improve the county’s BH system of care.

The first step in this study is to gather community input, and that is happening this week.

I hope you will join one of the following focus groups and share your experiences, impressions and opinions regarding BH concerns and services in San Miguel County.
