On Friday, January 8 at 1 am MST, San Miguel County, in collaboration with Region 10, will open applications for businesses to apply for its newest round of Coronavirus Relief Funding (CVRF). The Colorado State Legislature established a Small Business Relief Program for counties, like San Miguel, that were in Level Red from December 10, or earlier, through December 31.

The types of businesses that should apply for the program include restaurants, bars, caterers, theaters, gyms and recreation centers, but all businesses that experienced an income loss in 2020 are encouraged to weigh in. Award amount will range depending on historic annual revenue, from $3,500 to $7,000.

“The goal of this program is to continue providing relief for the businesses that have suffered from this pandemic,” said San Miguel County Manager Mike Bordogna. “The state recognizes how difficult Level Red has been for the majority of its counties and has dedicated funds to aid in relief for small businesses in the communities that committed and adhered to strict restrictions in an effort to curb the spread of the virus.”

The Small Business Relief Program will provide direct relief payments to small businesses located in a county that was subject to, and in compliance with, severe capacity restrictions pursuant to a public health order. The county is seeking to extend the life of businesses that have a proven pre-pandemic business model, but are in danger of closure due to last month’s Level Red regulations.

The grant program timeline is as follows:

Application period: Friday, January 8 at 1 am MST until Friday, January 29 at 11:59 pm MST

Region 10 review of grant proposals: Monday, February 1 through Monday, February 8

Region 10 recommendations to San Miguel County: Tuesday, February 9
Checks sent to awarded businesses by San Miguel County: Friday, February 12

Applicants should be prepared with Profit and Loss (P&L) statements to show their business experienced a 20 percent or greater loss from 2019 to 2020. Businesses will also be required to provide a Certificate of Good Standing from the state, as well as a few other requirements that can be found on the website. Any funds received will be considered taxable income. There is no guarantee of full or even partial granting of the funds requested.
