San Miguel County: Covid-19 1st Tues. Forums Continue, 8/8, Teens!

San Miguel County continues its COVID Community Forums. The focus on September 8 is teens. The public can send questions up to one day prior to the forum, by September 7, to publichealth@sanmiguelcountyco.gov. Parents and kids welcome to join. For up-to-date coronavirus information visit: https://www.sanmiguelcountyco.gov/

Public Health will be holding its second COVID Community Forum on Tuesday, September 8, at 6 p.m. on Facebook Live, KOTO Community Radio and Zoom. The forum will focus on teens, and how they are navigating their way through the challenges of the pandemic. Parents and teens are encouraged to join the discussion to ask questions and share stories, strategies and challenges. Panelists will include Public Health Director Grace Franklin, County Medical Officer Dr. Sharon Grundy and Student Ambassadors.

“COVID has been challenging for everyone, but it’s especially difficult for teens who naturally want to socialize in groups and engage with friends,” said Public Health Director Grace Franklin. “This forum will provide a platform for parents and teens to openly discuss their feelings and concerns as we continue through the pandemic and open up for in-person learning at our schools.”

The forum will be broadcast live on the San Miguel County Department of Health and Environment Facebook page, KOTO Community Radio and Zoom (Meeting ID: 875 7561 1213 Passcode: 819022). Spanish interpretation will be offered exclusively on the Zoom platform.

The COVID Forums were created to encourage dialogue for specific groups within the community and provide useful, relevant information while fielding questions and concerns. The sessions give Public Health another touchpoint to ensure all individuals are being reached and served. Recordings of the forums and FAQs can be found on the San Miguel County COVID microsite under “Community Forums” https://www.sanmiguelcountyco.gov/coronavirus
