Telluride Med Center: Staff Tests Negative for Covid-19

Effective immediately, healthcare providers at the Telluride Regional Medical Center can issue diagnostic COVID-19 tests to any patient requesting one, regardless of symptoms. To make an appointment for a PCR diagnostic COVID-19 test visit tellmed.org/testing for step-by-step instructions. And any community member experiencing COVID-19 symptoms — fever, cough, congestion, shortness of breath, malaise, headache or diarrhea — should call the Med Center at 970-728-3848 to discuss next steps.

All nine Telluride Regional Medical Center staff members thought to have had low to moderate exposure to a confirmed COVID-19 case have tested negative.

On Wednesday the Medical Center announced a non-clinical staff member, with no patient contact, had tested positive for COVID-19. The employee was one of a rash of new positive cases announced this week by San Miguel County Public Health.

It is believed the woman was exposed to the virus outside of her work at the clinic; risk of exposure to staff was considered low, according to health officials.

“Because of our adherence to protocols, we expected negative results, nevertheless, we’re relieved to bring staff out of quarantine to join us in our effort to test dozens locals who may have had high-risk exposure to the five active cases in the county,” said Dr. Sharon Grundy, primary care director.
