25 Jun Telluride Yoga Festival: Overview, 6/27 – 6/30
Four-day, 3-day and day-passes to the Telluride Yoga Festival are still available. To purchase tickets or to learn more about the lineup and the schedule, visit www.tellurideyogafesival.com.
The Telluride Yoga Festival celebrates its 12th annual festival this upcoming weekend with a shift to an earlier date, more music including a Friday night music concert at the historic Sheridan Opera House with MC YOGI and DJ Drez, and a continued focus of incorporating the majestic backdrop of the mountains of Telluride into the festivals offerings.
Most of the more than 130 workshops will be hosted at the festival’s downtown campus of the Telluride High School in indoor and outdoor venues. However, while the festival is home to lots of yoga and meditation, the event also hopes to leverage Telluride’s unparalleled beauty by bringing nature to the forefront of its offerings with nightly sunset yoga overlooking the San Sophia mountains and the Town of Telluride, climbing the famous via Ferrata, a “get in the flow” rafting trip on Thursday, several hikes per day, SUP yoga on Elk’s Lake in Mountain Village, outdoor aerial yoga, biking, and more.
Festival co-owner and director, Erika Henschel, is super excited about the lineup and classes this year:
“The very idea of a yoga festival, to me, is to offer a wide variety of classes, teachers, and approaches to practice that will showcase yoga in all of its various forms. When I create the lineup, I am looking for teachers that I feel are really authentic, those who genuinely walk their talk.”
The festival strives to create a lineup that builds community and consistency, but also introduces new faces. This year, for example, the festival brings back festival favorites Amy Ippoliti, Gina Caputo, and Scott Blossom, who taught at the very first Telluride Yoga Festival. New teachers include MC YOGI, Ashleigh Sergeant, and Eoin Finn, just to name a few.
MC YOGI is a beloved yogi and world-renowned performing artist with a unique ability to combine hip-hop music with yogic wisdom. Ashleigh has dedicated her life to sharing the healing power of yoga with the world and has studied with some incredible teachers, including Sally Kempton, who graced the TYF stage in 2018. Eoin Finn, will really resonate with TYF attendees because he reaffirms Nature as one of the greatest spiritual portals and best sources of health and happiness.
“I can’t wait for the energy that is going to fill the valley during yoga fest this year. It’s when we all come together that this festival really comes to life. We are ready to share the love!,” says Henschel.
