25 Jul Free Public Talk by Shawna Moore & Jeff Hirst
On Thursday, July 28, the Telluride Gallery of Fine Art & The Ah Haa School for the Arts present at free public talk. The event takes place Thursday, July 28, 6 p.m. at the Gallery.
A Telluride Gallery of Fine Arts artist since 2010, Shawna Moore uses the interplay of materials in her encaustic work to record a kind of visual diary of her life experiences. In the layers, which appear and disappear in the creative process, Moore creates a record of her selective memory.
Jeff Hirst, a newcomer to Telluride, uses printmaking to investigate relationships between man-made architectural structure and the natural landscape – and the questions that arise when these two forces coexist in an urban environment.
Both Moore and Hirst create work in action, their pieces shift and change with each layer of composition.
Also, don’t miss “Wax and Screen: Combining Techniques for Unique Outcomes” at the Ah Haa School, July 29- 31.
By creating repeatable printed designs that can then be transferred onto wax, Hirst and Moore will explain how multiple transparent layers of color and image slowly develop into a multi-dimensional, evocative work of art.
