01 Apr TMC Doctor Takes Over Uncompahgre Medical Center
The Telluride Hospital District announced this week Dr. Heather Linder will leave the primary care practice at the Telluride Medical Center to serve as Medical Director at Uncompahgre Medical Center in Norwood.
Dr. Linder joined the TMC team in 2013 to help meet growing demands for primary care at the Medical Center. In addition to seeing urgent care patients as needed, Dr. Linder served as a primary care provider for about 400 patients.
Staff at TMC is notifying those patients to manage the transition.
To accommodate demand while TMC searches for a new provider, Dr. Grundy and Dr. Gaylord will expand their practices.
“We’ll also work with patients to transfer records to Norwood should they want to follow Dr. Linder to her new practice,” said Dr. Grundy Medical Director at TMC.
According to Dr. Grundy, Dr. Linder’s new role at a nearby clinic could increase synergies between the two health care providers who often share patients.
“I’m excited for her and what this could mean for our two organizations as we bridge gaps and ensure everyone in the region receives exemplary health care,” said Dr. Grundy.
In her new role at the Uncompahgre Medical Center, Dr. Linder will be responsible for the direction of the organization in addition to seeing patients. As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), Dr. Linder will qualify for the government’s student loan repayment program.
“This was a difficult decision for me, working at TMC has been a wonderful experience, and I will certainly miss the staff and patients,” said Dr. Linder. “One of the reasons I went into medicine was to take care of underserved populations, and I’m drawn to follow this passion to the West End of our county where the need is greatest.”
