The Telluride Medical Center (TMC) will host its 35th annual Health Fair. The event takes place Saturday, October 11, 8a.m. – 11a.m. at the Ah Haa Art School on Depot Avenue, in Telluride.
Free and discounted services include lab tests, flu shots, HIV tests, physical therapy, acupuncture, eye pressure checks, hearing evaluations, EKG’s and more.
Since 1979, TMC’s goal for the Health Fair has been to provide free or discounted services to those without insurance or means. Now, because of the Affordable Health Care Act, more people seek proactive health services and maintain yearly check ups. Consequently attendance of the Health Fair has seen a sharp decline in recent years.
“We think of this as a success problem,” said Eric Johnson, TMC’s primary care manager and board certified family nurse practitioner.
Due to the deep discount of services, insurance is not applicable and payment for the services with a fee is required at the time of service.
