It is getting to be that time in Telluride: end of season and the mountain about to close. Feet starting to feel naked without boots, boards or skis? Telluride’s Two Skirts has an answer. In a word: espadrille.
Espadrilles are shoes with a canvas upper and soles of braided cord. Espadrilles were originally worn in the Pyrenees at about the time of the War Between the States,1865. The word derives from the the Greek, “sparton,” a rope made of spartos,” an imported fiber known as “Spanish grass.”
Tory Burch is a designer whose lifestyle brand focuses on a luxury yet attainable, sportswear for customers with an eclectic sensibility. Hers is a sophisticated American aesthetic, but at an accessible price point. The ready-to-wear line is a favorite of celebrities from Michelle Obama to Oprah Winfrey, Gwyneth Paltrow and Hilary Swank, whom she dresses from head to toe. Which brings us to Tory Burch espadrilles.
