This week in Telluride, not all that glitters is on the silver screen. A trunk show at Dolce Jewels, September 2 – September 4, features Pamela Froman’s fine jewelry collection of handmade, one-of-a -kind, limited edition pieces comprised of multiple colors of precious metals (22 karat gold or platinum) and rare natural stones.
Born and raised in New York by her mother, the well-known sculptor and designer, Ann Froman, Pamela graduated from the prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology. She subsequently moved across the pond, settling in Paris, where she began her career designing jewelry for the top couturier salons, including Courreges, Cacharel, Carita, Guy Larouche, and Valentino.
The Pamela Froman Jewelry Collection debuted in 2006 in Las Vegas. In 2008, the artist was identified as one of the “10 Best New Jewelry Designers” by InDesign Magazine. Froman also received the covetedTown & Country Couture Design Award for Best of Gold, an award often referred to as the “Oscar of the jewelry industry.” (While we are on the subject of Oscars in the making at the Telluride Film Festival)
Froman’s bling is distinguished by irregular surfaces and a special hand-hammering technique she described as “crushed.” Celebrities who “have a crush” on Froman’s unique designs include: Halle Berry, Diane Lane, Debra Messing, Meredith Brooks, Whoopi Goldberg, Norah Jones, and Eva Mendes.
