Your Ah Haa Moment: Massage and esthetician certification

Caycee Telluride’s Ah Haa School for the Arts wants to give you the tools to rub people the right way.

Director Caycee Ames of The Connecting Point (and spa manager at the Hotel Telluride) offers a 600-hour/ 20 credit esthetician certification, including coursework in skincare techniques (facials, waxing) plus reiki, ayurvedic therapies, reflexology, aromatherapy and spa therapies. Successful completion of the program enables graduates to sit for the Colorado State Board Exam to become a licensed esthetician.

Caycee Ames also leads a team of instructors offering a 500-hour qualifying program in massage therapy. The curriculum is comprised of Swedish and advanced massage techniques, anatomy and physiology, business and ethics, and a variety of alternative healing modalities including reiki, shiatsu, reflexology, aromatherapy, and spa therapies. The Connecting Point’s program at Ah Haa is approved by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork for entrance in to the national exam for massage certification.

The two courses begin Monday, September 28, 9 – 3 p.m. Tuesdays are dedicated to massage, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Wednesday is beauty day, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. The programs end on April 1, 2010. Registration is preferred, but open enrollment the week of October 1 is also an option.

To offer accredited programs such as Caycee’s two in-depth courses, the Ah Haa School partnered with the University Centers of San Miguel.

Caycee Ames is certified as a reiki master/teacher, yoga instructor, and massage therapist.
