The first ever Telluride Yoga Festival was held last July and the crowd went wild: asana, altitude, and ahimsa proved a winning combo.
The event was conceived by local Jivamukti instructor Aubrey Hackman and executed with the help of her partner, marketing jock Elaine Demas of the Telluride Experience.
The TYF is the first special event in Telluride to give 25 percent of its profits to a local nonprofit. Last year, the money went to the environment: The New Community Coalition and Sheep Mountain Alliance. TYF is also a zero waste event.
TIO will regularly be featuring the talented instructors who will be participating in Aubrey and Lanie’s July event, starting this weekend with Forrest Yoga teacher Regina Zwilling.
Aubrey and Elaine and the Telluride Yoga Center are co-producing a series of winter workshops featuring high profile instructors such as Zwilling representing different lineages or approaches to a practice.
The intensives kick off this weekend, July 17, 3:30 – 6 p.m., and July 18, 9 – 11 a.m.
The theme of Zwilling’s Saturday class is “Deepen Your Relationship to Your Spirit.” On Sunday, the emphasis is “Open Your Heart.”
All levels of experience are welcome.
