“I have been a fan of Rob’s work since I moved to Telluride in the early ‘80s,” said Art Goodtimes, Talking Gourds director. “Elle has been a poet performer colleague and Norwood area friend for over 20 years. It should be a delightful evening.”

Schultheis is an author and journalist who lives in Lawson Hill. He has written about the wars in Afghanistan (both with the Soviet Union and the U.S.) and the 2003 Iraq War, as well as books about Colorado, the Western United States, and extreme sports such as mountain climbing. His pieces have appeared in magazines such as Time, and newspapers such as The New York Times and The Washington Post. But lately Rob been sharing his poetry.

In addition to being a published poet and veteran performer, appearing in Grand Junction last month for the inaugural Book Cliffs Poetry Festival, Metrick is a jane-of-many-trades. She’s taught school, run rivers for a living, made and shoveled snow, lived in my truck and a tipi, built a straw bale home and raised a lovely, thoughtful and creative human being.

Metrick has published books of poetry: “Poetisattva” (Water Woman Productions, 2000) and “Teasing out the Divine” (Mercury Heartlink, 2012). She dabbles in creative nonfiction and is deep into an Icelandic fiction project. She also writes for local newspapers and magazines and is a creative and line editor who partners with clients on passion projects.

For those that like prompts, this month’s will be “Rain”  – although stories or poems on any subject are welcome.
