12 Sep Town of Telluride: Safety Improvements, (thru Mid-October)!
Safety Improvements underway in the Town’s right of way at the Clark’s Market entrance. New turn lane, pedestrian crosswalk relocation, and stormwater improvements at Clark’s driveway. Expect flaggers and minor traffic interruptions through mid-October.
The Town of Telluride Public Works Department is improving the public right of way at the entrance to Clark’s Market to make the area safer and easier to navigate for drivers and pedestrians.

Work began September 1 and is expected to continue through mid-October, depending on weather and underground conditions. Repaving of the road surface will take place at a later date.
What’s Changing:
New center turn lane: Westbound drivers turning into Clark’s will have a dedicated turn lane, helping keep through traffic moving.
Safer pedestrian crossings: New accessibility ramps will be set back from Colorado Avenue. The new layout will move pedestrians away from the Clark’s driveway and allow vehicles to yield without stopping in the eastbound travel lane.
Realigned sidewalks: Sidewalks will be adjusted to create clearer, more predictable routes for pedestrians.
Stormwater improvements: Crews will upgrade drainage to better manage runoff and protect the roadway.
Why Are Some Existing Ramps Being Removed?
Too many crossings close together can make it harder for drivers to predict where someone may enter the street and harder for pedestrians to know where they are most visible.
Consolidating crossings into fewer, clearly marked locations will make movements more predictable and improve safety for everyone.
What to expect
Drivers and pedestrians should expect intermittent delays, lane shifts and temporary pedestrian detours through mid-October. Flaggers and signs will help guide traffic through the work zone.
On concrete pour days, traffic will be reduced to one lane with alternating one-way traffic. Those dates have not yet been set. The Town will send a text alert and post on social media the evening before each planned one-lane closure.
Please watch for traffic control, slow down around crews and allow a few extra minutes when traveling through the area.
