Dr. Rob Silver graduated CSU in 1982 thinking he had everything he needed. About five years into practice the story goes he grew frustrated with conventional tools. They just weren’t touching complex chronic disease. That frustration is what sent Silver looking — first to home-prepared diets and herbs, then to acupuncture certification through IVAS in 1993, then to Traditional Chinese Veterinary Herbal Medicine with Dr. Huisheng Xie, right as Xie was founding what became Chi University.

Silver now teaches there as adjunct faculty, a nice and tidy loop.

Siver’s Boulder’s Natural Animal, which opened in the early ’90s was one of the first integrative veterinary hospitals in the country and a model of current integrative practices many still follow.

In 1994, RxVitamins for Pets hired Silver as Chief Medical Officer and he’s developed roughly 40 nutraceutical formulations sold through veterinarians. He was also formerly Chief Veterinary Officer at Folium Biosciences, one of the largest vertically integrated hemp companies in the world.

“There’s a Mushroom for That!” is not Silver’s first. He wrote “Medical Marijuana and Your Pet” years before. “There’s A Mushroom for That” is structured around eight narrative case stories of dogs and cats Silver has treated across four decades.
