One of Telluride’s favorite Fourth of July traditions is back. The Telluride Foundation is excited to host the 16th Annual Rundola: “Run for Good.” Event takes place Saturday, July 4th at 7:30 a.m. and brings together locals and visitors for a memorable morning of fitness, fun, and holiday spirit.

The Rundola welcomes participants of all ages and abilities. Racers gather at the base of the gondola before heading to the top of San Sophia Ridge, via the Telluride Trail. When the starting gun sounds at 7:30 a.m., participants tackle the 1,800-foot ascent 2.4 mile trail at their own pace.

But the Rundola is about more than reaching the top. It is about helping neighbors along the way. Proceeds from this year’s race will once again benefit the Good Neighbor Fund (GNF), a community resource that provides emergency financial assistance to residents and workers throughout the Telluride region. Administered by Tri-County Health Network, the fund helps individuals and families navigate unexpected hardships, including medical emergencies, housing costs, transportation repairs, and other critical expenses.

“The Good Neighbor Fund helps people get through some of life’s toughest moments, providing critical support that can make the difference between stability and crisis,” said Carol Schutter of Tri-County Health Network. “The fund reflects our commitment to helping people remain in the community they love and continue supporting their families.”

Participants will receive a custom Rundola tech t-shirt, and top finishers will compete for prizes generously provided by YETI, The Alpine Club, and The Alpineer. Medals will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each age group. The always popular Rundola hats will also be available for purchase.

After finishing the climb, all participants are invited to enjoy a free breakfast at OAK Restaurant as well as race awards which will be presented beginning at 9:30 a.m.

In accordance with the event’s permit issued by the U.S. Forest Service, this year’s race will utilize a single course route along the Telluride Trail. While previous Rundola races have included multiple course options, participants can still look forward to the same challenging climb, spectacular view and community spirit that have made Rundola a beloved Telluride tradition.
