MusicFest 2026 runs from June 28 through July 5, bringing world-class chamber music and one of Telluride’s most beloved summer traditions to town.
Spanning eight days, MusicFest is a celebration of chamber music with truly inspired programming, held in the magnificent private home of Anne & Vincent Mai — a beautifully restored barn with unparalleled views of Mt. Sunshine. Intimate, joyful, and unlike any other concert experience, MusicFest has been part of the Telluride community since 2003 and has partnered with Telluride Chamber Music since 2022.
MusicFest 2026 brings together an exceptional roster of returning artists. Co-Artistic Directors Kathryn Lockwood and Yousif Sheronick of duoJalal, whose genre-defying blend of viola and percussion has taken them from Carnegie Hall to festivals across six continents.

This year also sees the welcome addition of distinguished guest clarinetist Alan Kay, described by The New York Times as bringing “spellbinding, infectious enthusiasm and panache.” Kay will be featured in the second concert, “From the Music Room.”
This year’s festival theme, “Threads of Sound,” carries personal significance: the three featured concerts are dedicated to the memory of Barbara Lockwood, mother of Artistic Director Kathryn Lockwood. Each concert builds to a powerful Brahms masterpiece, while the first half sparkles with bold and diverse programming.
“Resonance and Romance” — Sunday June 28, 6pm
“Resonance and Romance” opens the season with a vibrant journey through the emotional depths of chamber music, featuring Debussy, Meyer, Tchaikovsky and Montgomery.
“From the Music Room” — Thursday July 2, 6pm
Evoking the feeling of opening the door to a well-loved music room, this concert features the addition of clarinet with works by Mozart, Bruch, Rohde and Liszt.
“Braided Traditions” — Sunday July 5, 3pm
A celebration of heritage, identity, and the ways music carries history forward, featuring Gershwin, Wiancko, Dvořák, and Copland, whose music captures the spirit of the American landscape.
MusicFest has always been about more than the concerts, and 2026 is no exception. Alongside the main events, Telluride Chamber Music offers a program of free and accessible community events.
On Monday June 29th at 5:30pm, Yousif Sheronick leads a Frame Drum Workshop at Wilkinson Public Library — a hands-on, all-levels experience exploring the ancient art of the frame drum, an instrument with a 5,000-year history.
On Tuesday June 30th at 6pm, Local Artists Night at the Mai house celebrates the musical talent of the local community, welcoming instrumentalists and vocalists of all levels and genres.
Admission to both events is free.
Telluride Chamber Music is also pleased to announce a new Youth Workshop in partnership with Telluride Academy, reflecting the organization’s deep commitment to music education and to nurturing the next generation of musicians and music lovers in the community.
