Commitment Grants support documentary filmmakers with projects in post-production, with awards ranging from $3,000 to $6,000. Mountainfilm welcomes applicants from any country and has special grant funding available for these focus areas: Projects featuring an LGBTQ+ protagonist; a story centered on overcoming personal challenges, societal stigmas or community obstacles, with a meaningful connection to the outdoors or nature-based pursuits. Also projects exploring immigration or migration-related challenges or created by immigrant or first-generation immigrant filmmakers.
If you are an early-career filmmaker, we will also select an Emerging Filmmaker from the pool of Commitment Grant applicants for our Emerging Filmmaker Fellowship. The fellowship provides a yearlong mentorship, a cash award and a trip to Telluride during the festival over Memorial Day weekend.
