The museum will be opening for the summer season on June, 1st and we hope to see you soon! Join us on Thursday, June 11th for our opening exhibit reception where we will be unveiling our new exhibit, “Moments that Made US.” The exhibit uses a collection of local artifacts from multiple centuries that demonstrate themes from the Declaration of Independence. This unique exhibit is a part of the American 250th, and Colorado 150th celebrations and done in collaboration with History Colorado.

This summer is sure to be filled with many exciting events, celebrations, and programming. Join in the fun and make your mark through our “This is Colorado: In One Square Foot” community art project! Pick up your own canvas at the museum, Telluride Arts HQ, or the TMVOA offices, and fill that space using whatever medium appeals. Canvases are due June 1st; cash prizes will be awarded. Learn more here.

Need to get out and about? Walking tours led by Ashley Boling will be back every Tuesday and Thursday starting on June 2nd, and continuing through the summer season. If you’d rather curl up with a good book in the grass, keep an eye out for our historic book club at the Wilkinson Public Library. Titles and guest speakers will be announced soon.

Don’t forget to keep up with the museum online. Each month we release a new episode of our micro-podcast called Historic Harmonies. In every episode we cover the history of songs about historical events and dive into the history that inspired it. You can find the episodes on Spotify, here, or catch them after KOTO’s Wednesday evening news segment on the third Wednesday of the month.

If you want to learn more about our local history and landscapes, check out our Power of Place videos on Facebook, Instagram, and Tiktok. These videos include historic photos, and information about some of the most interesting places in San Miguel County.

Stay tuned to hear more about our summer programming! We will be announcing some exciting hikes into history and other events soon!

See you Soon,

Your Museum Family
