The Durango Bluegrass Train rolls into the San Juan Mountains May 28, 29, and 30, 2026, bringing an all-new genre to one of Colorado’s most beloved live-music train experiences.
All aboard for a one-of-a-kind musical journey through the spectacular canyons of the San Juan National Forest, powered by the historic, steam-driven Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. The Durango Bluegrass Train transforms vintage rail coaches into a moving music venue, featuring six live bluegrass performances happening simultaneously throughout the train.
Each artist performs in their own historic coach, and passengers are encouraged to roam freely from car to car—dancing, listening, and soaking in the scenery along the way. Four coaches feature seating, while two are open, standing-room-only cars designed for dancing and high-energy movement. Throughout the evening, guests can enjoy Colorado craft beer and wine, paired with breathtaking mountain views and nonstop live music.
The event builds on the legacy of the Durango Blues Train, which for more than a decade has drawn music lovers from across the country for its unforgettable blend of live performances and jaw-dropping scenery. Now, that same proven and much-loved format takes on a new sound — bluegrass — while keeping everything fans love about the experience.

Boarding: 6:30 pm at the depot (479 Main Ave. Durango, CO 81301)
Departure: 7:00 pm sharp
Rockwood Stop: 15–20 minute break at approximately 8:30 pm
Return: arrival back at the depot around 10:30 pm

The Train is an exciting 3.5-hour moving musical experience of live music on board the steam-powered Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad through the San Juan National Forest.
The event starts and ends in Durango, Colorado, and features six live performances inside the train coaches with a festive musical environment.
Each artist performs in their own vintage coach, while passengers can pass freely from coach to coach.
The Bluegrass Train with nine passenger cars, a steam-engine locomotive, two full bands, four solo/duo acts and three craft beer and wine bars.
