The Telluride Town Council and I recognize that ongoing negotiations between the Telluride Professional Ski Patrol and the Telluride Ski & Golf Company are critically important to our community. I urgently call on both parties to take immediate action to conclude negotiations and avoid potentially serious consequences for our retailers, restaurant and bar owners, small businesses, residents and children, visitors, and destination this winter.
Resort communities like Telluride face real and increasing economic pressures, including rising living costs, housing limitations, and workforce sustainability challenges. These pressures are felt by workers, employers, and families alike, and they have meaningful implications for the long-term vitality of our community.
The ski patrol plays a critical role in public safety and in the overall experience in our resort destination for residents and visitors alike, and their work is deeply valued. We also understand that collective bargaining negotiations are a complex process that requires good-faith dialogue, patience, and mutual respect from all parties involved.
Town is not a party to these negotiations, but we encourage continued, timely communication and a constructive path forward that reflects the long-term health of Telluride’s entire workforce, the resort, and the broader Telluride community.
We remain hopeful that an agreement can be reached that reflects the shared interest in protecting the long-term vitality and reputation of our community and destination.
