TJC: Chanukah for Kids & Chanukah for Everyone!

Helmed by its ED, Sari Levy, the Telluride Jewish Community or TJC is dedicated to fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and supportive nonprofit that celebrates and strengthens Jewish identity, heritage, and culture.

Check out Sari’s note below about upcoming Chanukah happenings.

Dear Friends,

Things  are quiet here in Telluride—but winter is coming, and with it, parties.

And hopefully, snow.

Hopefully.

But what’s good for skiers can be rough if you don’t have a coat. This year, TJC is teaming up with Christ Presbyterian and True North to collect coats for teens in Norwood, Naturita, and Telluride. The other most-requested item isn’t quite as warm: prom dresses. They’re expensive and hard to come by. If your coat or cocktail dress is looking for a new home, please drop it off at Christ Presbyterian (434 W. Columbia).

For Teens: We know you’re not reading this if you’re a teen because you are post-email — but if you know a teen, please send them a TikTok DM to let them know they’re invited to challah-making on December 4. RSVP here.

Chanukah: It’s a little more than a month away! Join us for our second annual Family Chanukah Craft Party on December 14 at Home Depot in Montrose. Last year, more than 40 of you came for dreidel-making, candle lighting, pizza, and doughnuts. We’d love to see you again—this is a family event geared toward kids 10 and under, so please spread the word. RSVP here.

Cocktails and Candle Lighting: The Annual TJC Chanukah Party.
We’re back at the Alibi on Sunday, December 21, 4–6 pm for our annual holiday gathering. Come for the candle lighting; stay for the cocktails and conversation.

Shabbat & Chanukah with Chabad: We’re excited to welcome back Chabad’s traveling rabbis for three special events:

Thursday, December 18 – Chanukah Candle Lighting at 4 pm in Heritage Plaza, Mountain Village

• Friday, December 19 – Shabbat Service and Dinner

• Saturday, December 20 – Shabbat Morning Minyan

The best way to get details is by contacting them directly.

Shabbat Hosts Needed:  We’re looking for hosts for upcoming Shabbat potlucks! We are already scheduling into summer, but also need winter hosts. Hosting doesn’t have to cost you anything—you can cap attendance, and TJC can help with cleaning, logistics, and the service.

And finally, TJC is now on Instagram (thanks to our new intern Sadie). Follow at @telluridejewishcommunity for event announcements and reminders.

Warmly,
TJC
