This co-sponsored event with Telluride Science features Dr. Haley Perlus, who will share the psychology and physiology behind performing under pressure and adapting with confidence.

Olympian and Professional Skier Wendy Fisher will moderate a Q & A with Dr. Perlus following the presentation.

Volunteer of the Year Celebration

The Foundation will also work with the SPARKy board to help establish the Barbara Hinterkopf Memorial Scholarship Fund. Go here to support this very important work.

The Telluride Foundation is honored to celebrate our 2025 Volunteer of the Year recipient, Barbara Hinterkopf. (Awarded posthumously.)

Barbara Hinterkopf’s dedication to education, equity, and the empowerment of young women left an enduring impact on the Telluride community and beyond. As President of SPARKy, Barbara championed access to higher education for first-generation Latinas by leading the Latina Scholarship Fund, mentoring students, and ensuring they felt supported both financially and emotionally.

In addition to her work with SPARKy, Hinterkopf was a founding board member of CARE Elementary School in Miami, Fla., and supported local arts and education initiatives, including the Ah Haa School’s capital campaign. Her efforts have helped hundreds of students realize their academic and personal goals.

Tom Miaskiewicz, Director of the AI Institute at Fort Lewis College and Associate Professor of Marketing, will lead a discussion exploring the AI landscape from big-picture trends to ground-level strategy.

Creative Exchange: An Evening with Yury Urnov

Telluride Foundation, Telluride Science and SPARKy Productions present an evening with Yury Urnov, Co-Artistic Theater Director of the Wilma Theater in Philadelphia.

An internationally respected director, Yury’s career spans Moscow, Europe, Africa, and the United States, with over 40 productions to his credit. A former Fulbright Scholar and company member of Woolly Mammoth Theatre, he serves as Associate Director of the Center for International Theater Development and has translated major American and Russian plays across languages. His work with the Center for Eastern European Theater has fostered creative exchange between American and European artists for decades.

The evening explores how artistic collaboration across borders transforms both artists and art forms — and how Eastern European theater continues to innovate despite political and economic challenges.

Through conversation and video clips, discover the resilience of creative practice and the enduring power of collaboration in the arts.

The evening begins with a cocktail reception at 5 p.m., followed by Yury’s presentation from 5:30-6:30 p.m.. Afterward, guests are invited to linger over drinks and continue the conversation.
