Alice’s Wonderland is a “revisit” from the 2020-21 season when, during COVID regulations, public performances were not permitted.

“We were approved to film ‘Alice’ instead, with each class being videoed separately. Parents sat socially distanced in the theatre, and all dancers wore masks, but no one was able to view the entire performance from start to finish,” Palm ED Nichole Hattler explained.

After watching the video again a few years later, Hattler was struck by how fun the performance was even with all the challenges.

“I just felt like this show deserved a proper, big audience, with all the excitement and applause that comes with a full house. It has been incredibly rewarding to rework this production on a new group of dancers and see it come together again.

Palm Arts Dance is always a team effortw ith Hattler, Katie Shewbridge, Kelsey Trottier, and Laya Barak contributing to the choreography, and helping create the storyline and music score that ultimately brings the performance to life. Along with over 30 volunteers that help provide costume support, prop-making and backstage help, it is never a small feat to undertake, but so worth it to create meaningful dance experiences for our local youth.

“Alice” is a journey story that will leave everyone feeling happy.for having seen beautiful dance and hopefully inspired to explore their own world with new eyes.
