Director of “Footprints on Katmai” (Mountainfilm 2024) and “My Grandmother’s Sketchbook” (Mountainfilm 2025), Romey grew up dyslexic, but was able to found his voice through painting and drawing. Inspired by his grandmother Lu’s well-traveled sketchbooks, he uses line and color to capture the stories of places in a way words never fully can.

This year’s poster centers on community, honoring everyone who makes up this festival – from attendees and filmmakers to athletes, artists, authors and activists. Every year we gather in Telluride to share films, conversations and experiences that stay with us long after the weekend ends.

Mountainfilm also pleased to share that Max will have a gallery exhibition during the festival, in partnership with Ah Haa School for the Arts.
