MT203 Recap

EcoAction team members were thrilled to attend another MT2030 Climate Solutions Conference in Breckenridge earlier this month alongside close partners from around the region.

A few highlights from this year’s summit:

Organizing a panel discussion for 65+ audience members titled “From Resistance to Resilience: Successful Implementation of Renewables in Rural America”

Having our very own Executive Director, Emma Gerona, be amongst just a few finalists up for the “Mountain Catalyst” award

Watching our good friend and Mayor of Ridgway, John Clark WIN the “Mountain Catalyst” award

Ridgway taking home the “Small Towns Doing Big Things” award (read more here)

Here’s to collaboration across mountain towns and collective hope towards building a stronger, more resilient future!

Common Ground Recap

Thank you to all those who attended the Common Ground Family Film recent event in Norwood.

A diverse crowd ranging from ag producers, soil nerds, children, long time locals, conservation groups and curious community members came together and made this gathering all the more special. Everyone enjoyed a hearty soup from Wild Gals, fresh Blue Grouse bread, painting pumpkins and engaging in robust conversations around soil health and community resilience.

Keep an eye out for future events like this on our events and news page here.

Energy Workforce Development Program

Are you or someone you know interested in working locally in the energy field? Our region has a high and growing demand for heat pump technicians, energy auditors, solar installers, EV mechanics, electric utility lineman and other trades.

The Energy Workforce Development Program provides training opportunities to individuals seeking a career in the energy field. The goal of this program is to add new skilled labor to the energy sector and includes reimbursement for the cost of technical certifications and/or time spent in training.

Those interested should visit Energy Workforce Development — EcoAction Partners and reach out to Kendra with any questions at kendra@ecoactionpartners.org

“The Energy Workforce Development Program allowed me to get cold climate air source heat pump certification so I could support a close friend’s local heat pump business. I’m excited to use my years of hands-on experience with carpentry and add a new skill set to my belt. It was great to be connected with a training I could do in my free time AND get paid for it! Looking forward to exploring more training this fall when I have a little more time,” Chris Kaup, Program Participant 2025

Youth Climate Summit

Calling all High Schooler Students from across the Region! Join us for the Sneffels Regional Youth Climate Summit on Saturday, November 15th from 9a.m.-5p.m. at the Telluride Science and Innovation Center.

The Sneffels Regional Youth Climate Summit is a youth-driven conference designed to bring together high school students from across Southwest Colorado with a focus on San Miguel, San Juan, Ouray, and Montrose Counties, for a day of learning, connection, and action.

Co-led by local students and EcoAction Partners and sponsored by Lyra Colorado, the Telluride Institute, and the Telluride Science and Innovation Center, the summit fosters resilience in rural mountain communities through climate science education, youth-led presentations, nature connection, a green career expo, eco-art, and hands-on projects like real life policy advocacy, a regional youth zine, and school- or community-based climate project planning.

Student sign up here.

Are you an adult working in a green field and want to be a part of the green career expo? We are also looking for community stakeholders to join in networking and listening to youth in our Region at this summit (ie County Commissioners, Mayor, Council Member, School Board ect.) If you’re an adult interested in joining us please RSVP here!

350 For the earth that sustains us all

Did you know that 350 parts per million of CO2 is the safe level for a livable planet. Today, we are nearing 430ppm. That is why this giving season, our goal is 350 donors, not dollars. Because each gift, no matter the size, is one more person standing up for more resilient communities and a healthier future.

At EcoAction Partners, our work is driven by a deep love for the natural world. For the fresh mountain air that fills our lungs, the clear rivers that nourish our communities at the watershed’s headwaters and beyond, the wild landscapes that ground and inspire us, and the intricate web of life we are all part of. This giving season, we’re calling on 350 people to step up in support of climate action, not just for the data or the emission reduction goals, but for the why behind it all. When you give, you’re standing up for the pristine beauty of our mountain ecosystems, for the health of future generations, and for the inherent connection we share with this Earth.

Every donation, no matter the size, is a powerful act of care and a way to give back to the planet that gives us everything. Be one of the 350.

Together, we can protect what matters most.
