The Towns of Telluride and Mountain Village, in partnership with the Four Corners Office for Resource Efficiency (4CORE) and EcoAction Partners, will host an Electric Vehicle (EV) Showcase on Friday, October 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Telluride Town Park parking lot.

This free community event invites residents and visitors to explore the latest in electric vehicle technology through test drives, live demonstrations, and hands-on learning. Attendees can speak directly with EV owners and see electric vehicles from both towns’ municipal fleets.

Experts from 4CORE, EcoAction Partners, and San Miguel Power Association (SMPA) will also be on site to share information about rebate programs, as well as state and local incentives for purchasing EVs and installing charging stations.

“We’re excited to bring the EV Showcase back in partnership with Telluride,” said Lauren Kirn, sustainability and grant projects manager for the Town of Mountain Village. “Events like this give our community the chance to experience how EVs can lower emissions, save money, and contribute to a more sustainable future.”

“This is a hands-on opportunity to learn about EVs and charging in our region,” said Darin Graber, sustainability and grant administrator for the Town of Telluride. “Whether you’re curious about EVs, want to check out the Town’s EV fleet, or are ready to make the switch, there’s something here for everyone.”

EV owners are encouraged to bring their vehicles to showcase for attendees.

Telluride back in the wild and wooly days, courtesy, Telluride Historical Museum.

Nestled amidst the majestic San Juan Mountains of southwest Colorado, Telluride’s captivating narrative is deeply rooted in the ancient legacy of the Ute tribe, the valley’s original inhabitants, who crafted their summer camps along the San Miguel River, naming the land “The Valley of Hanging Waterfalls.”

In the late 1700s, Spanish explorers traversed the rugged terrain, laying the groundwork for subsequent exploration and settlement. A fervent mining boom followed, igniting a rush of prospectors to the region, culminating in the founding of Telluride in 1880.

Telluride’s allure as a hub of opportunity attracted fortune seekers, bolstered by the arrival of the Rio Grande Southern Railroad and groundbreaking innovations like the hydroelectric power plant in Ames.

Set in a box canyon amid forested peaks at the base of the popular Telluride ski-and-golf resort, the town’s historic district houses landmarks like the Sheridan Opera House and the Telluride Historical Museum while playing host to culture, music, arts, outdoor recreation, and festivals with unrivaled views and dramatic locale.
