As the weather begins to cool down and the leaves begin to change, we invite you to visit the museum!

We want to thank everyone who joined us for our events in August from the Evening with Ken Burns, our Hike into History, and the museum fundraiser Dinner Party. We count ourselves lucky to have a community where people show their support and celebrate the history of our region!

During the month of September we have some fun events on the horizon to help you transition into fall and celebrate our changing landscape.

On September 5th, we will begin our Lone Tree Cemetery tours. Tours start at 1pm and meet at the cemetery every Friday until October 10th, where you can learn about the lives and legacies of some of Telluride’s most notorious residents. Spaces fill up quickly, call the museum to reserve your spot! And stay tuned for the Lamplight Cemetery Tours beginning Friday, October 17 at 6:30pm.

On September 27th, we invite you to join us for our final Hike into History. This hike will take place on the Iron Mountain Trail and museum staff will be discussing the life and disappearance of Walter Snodgrass, a Telluride resident who vanished under mysterious circumstances in September of 1948. Come ready to share your theories and learn about Walter’s life and legacy, find your tickets here.

At the end of the month the Fireside Chat series begins on September 24th at the Madeline Hotel in Mountain Village. This year the museum is partnering with Pinhead Institute, KOTO, and the Wilkinson Public Library to share some amazing speakers including Joseph Tanner – a NASA astronaut, KOTO staff, and Oak Smith – a 20-year Wilkinson Public Library long-hauler.

Fireside chats are free to the public and we hope to see you there!
