10 Sep Telluride Jewish Community: Happy New Year & More Happenings!
The Telluride Jewish Community or TJC, is dedicated to fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and supportive nonprofit that celebrates and strengthens Jewish identity, heritage, and culture.
Really say those of you who can otherwise rattle off the list of those institutions? Yeah really. In fact, the TJC is decades old – though historically largely off the radar for the unaffiliated. Until recently that is, when Sari Levy picked up the mantle from Michael Saffler and together are running with it and, as president and TJC’s first ED, are trying to take this 501(c)(3) from relative stealth to a central force for good in the region.
Join TJC as we come together for Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and everything in between.

Welcoming Rabbi Ken Aronowitz
Rabbi Ken Aronowitz has led High Holiday services for more than 40 years in both Conservative and Reform congregations.During that time, he has created meaningful and inspiring worship experiences for Jewish communities in Hartford, Dallas, Buffalo, Honolulu, Hot Springs, and most recently, Aspen.
In 1997, Rabbi Ken moved to Hawaii, where he quickly became a beloved fixture of the Jewish community on Oahu. For 20 years he served Temple Emanu-El as Cantorial Soloist, Educator, Spiritual Leader, and Rabbi.
Since leaving Temple Emanu-El in September 2021, Rabbi Ken has continued his service to the Jewish community as a chaplain at Pali Momi Medical Center and as a guest service leader with the Jewish Congregation of Maui.
Rabbi Ken and his wife, Hinda Diamond, celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in February. They are the proud parents of two children, Kelvin and Kristall Jennie.
A Note About Security
While many rural Jewish communities have not needed to focus on security in the past, this is a new moment. Out of an abundance of caution, some event locations will not be listed publicly-especially those taking place in private homes.
You may also notice armed security guards outside of TJC events.
That said, we remain committed to being an open and inclusive community. One reason
we do not charge dues or sell High Holiday tickets is so that everyone feels welcome to join.
To receive addresses for events, simply RSVP or email sari@telluridejewishcommunity.com.
