Since 1994, the Animal Resource Center and the Shops of Second Chance Humane Society have been dedicated to serving animals in Southwestern Colorado. Second Chance Humane Society is pleased to announce the re-opening of its Community Veterinary Clinic and the hiring of Dr. Hannah Coenen.
Dr. Hannah joined Second Chance Humane Society on June 4, 2025. Her most recent experience was at the city shelter in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she treated up to 50 animals per day. With her training in veterinary medicine and a specific focus on shelter medicine, Dr. Coenen is already proving to be a valuable asset to Second Chance Humane Society and the community.
With Dr. Hannah’s hiring, Second Chance is now able to reopen its community veterinary clinic, offering a range of affordable veterinary services to the community by appointment. Starting August 12, 2025, appointments are available for pets in the community for spay/neuter procedures, well/sick visits, euthanasia, vaccines, and more.
“We are so excited to offer affordable veterinary care for community pets. Second Chance is dedicated to keeping pets with the people who love them. Healthy pets in happy homes is one of our core goals,” said Executive Director Nicholas Gilman.
Clinic hours are by appointment, Monday through Thursday, from 8a.m – 5 p.m. Appointments can be made by calling (970)626-9713.
Second Chance will continue to offer vaccine and microchip clinics in Montrose, Nucla, and on the Ute Reservation, as well as periodic TNR and spay/neuter events.
