Following the successful opening night screening of “28 Years” Later, the Telluride Film Festival continues its new summer series, Village Film Nights, with a screening of “Materialists.”

Directed by Celine Song (“Past Lives”),”Materialists” is a contemporary comedy that explores love, wealth, and modern relationships in Manhattan’s elite circles. The film features Dakota Johnson (“The Lost Daughter”), Pedro Pascal (“The Last of Us”), and Chris Evans (“Knives Out”), each delivering sharp performances in a story that balances sophistication with emotional honesty.

Premiering at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival to critical acclaim, “Materialists” has been praised for its wit and insight.

“Wickedly smart and emotionally sly, Song’s script sparkles with nuance and dark humor,” wrote Variety, calling it “a razor-sharp look at desire and identity in a world built on performance.”

With the Nugget Theater currently closed for renovation, Village Film Nights offers a vibrant and much-needed gathering space for film lovers, thanks in large part to the generous support of TMVOA, the series’ presenting sponsor.

This initiative reflects TMVOA’s commitment to enriching cultural life in Mountain Village and helps ensure that the cinematic experience remains accessible to the community. Through this valued partnership, the Telluride Film Festival is proud to continue sharing films on the big screen while also supporting the Nugget Project—a campaign to revitalize the historic Nugget Building into a modern, year-round venue for film and public events.

Additional films will be announced throughout the summer, with all titles curated by the Telluride Film Festival.
