Mountainfilm is committed to supporting documentary filmmakers in telling stories that support our mission to use the power of film, art and ideas to inspire audiences to create a better world.

Mountainfilm’s Commitment Grant & Emerging Filmmaker Fellowship initiatives are two additional ways Mountainfilm continues to support and nurture filmmakers.

Mountainfilm is delighted to announce that this year the nonprofit will award a total of $60,000 to filmmakers, with grants ranging from $1,000 to $5,000.

The program has received generous support from Mountainfilm’s Filmmaker Fund, the Borsecnik/Weil family and Jess Stevens and Stephen Pollard in honor of the life of Isabella de la Houssaye.

COMMITMENT GRANTS, more:

The Commitment Grant is focused on supporting documentary filmmakers in production or post-production stages.

Mountainfilm seeks non-fiction stories celebrating adventure, activism, social justice, culture, environment and indomitable spirit.

Mountainfilm promotes and encourages diversity behind the camera.

EMERGING FILMMAKER FELLOWSHIP

In an effort to give early-career filmmakers much-needed support, Mountainfilm launched its Emerging Filmmaker Fellowship in 2018.

One filmmaker will be selected from the Commitment Grant applicants and receive a year-long mentorship, edit and story consultation, networking opportunities, a cash award, and a trip to Telluride during the festival over Memorial Day weekend, including travel, lodging and a Mountainfilm pass (applicable to the year following your award notification).

Applicants must currently reside in the U.S.
