The Mountain Village Police Department, Telluride Fire Protection District and Village Court Apartments are teaming up once again to host the 13th annual National Night Out. Event takes place Tuesday, August 5, 5 to 8 p.m.

The community is invited to join their neighbors, law enforcement and fire department teams at the Mountain Village Fire Station (411 Mountain Village Boulevard) for a free bbq (hamburgers and hot dogs) and family-friendly fun including ice cream social, corn hole, bouncy castle and tours of a police car, fire truck and ambulance.

National Night Out, a part of the National Association of Town Watch, involves over 38 million people in 16,000-plus communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide.

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. Furthermore, the event provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.

“National Night Out gives our community a fantastic chance to connect with local first responders,” said Mountain Village Police Chief Chris Broady. “Residents will learn what resources are available to them, get an up-close look at our emergency response equipment and build those important relationships with the people who serve them. It’s one of our favorite nights of the year.”
