Telluride Jewish Community: Upcoming Events & More!

Community. A group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common. Telluride, for example, is a community of like-minded peeps seeking a mind/body balance. Within that community are entities such as the Telluride Foundation, also a community, this one committed to enriching the quality of life of the residents, visitors and workforce of the region.

The Foundation in turn supports well over 75 nonprofits, some invite members (like the Foundation itself); others not, but all are cultural or serviced-based communities within the larger community of Telluride. One of those nonprofits is the Telluride Jewish Community or TJC, which is dedicated to fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and supportive nonprofit that celebrates and strengthens Jewish identity, heritage, and culture.

Really say those of you who can otherwise rattle off the list of those institutions? Yeah really. In fact, the TJC is decades old – though historically largely off the radar for the unaffiliated. Until recently that is, when Sari Levy picked up the mantle from Michael Saffler and together are running with it and, as president and TJC’s first ED, are trying to take this 501(c)(3) from relative stealth to a central force for good in the region.

Go here for more about the TJC.

Here’s a quick look at what’s coming up, produced and hosted by the TJC:

The concert is unlike anything else the TJC has ever brought to Telluride. The violins have been played by the Berlin philharmonic, the Cleveland Symphony, and other world class symphonies. Performers are coming from Istanbul to do three shows in Colorado: Denver, Vail –  and Telluride.
