This week’s pet column highlights two animals who came to Second Chance after their beloved people passed away. Both Brandi and Bailey were recently adopted, then returned to us due to no fault of their own. They are both “middle-aged,” mellow, sweet, and slightly full-figured. Give these loaf-shaped girls a chance to be treasured and loved again.

Bailey
Bailey is a six-year-old tabby female. Life has been rather confusing since she lost her person and her home.
Bailey lived in one home her entire life before her person passed away, leaving her and two other cats behind.
Bailey was found hiding under blankets. She was frightened and confused. Bailey was overweight and had some bad matting. While very loved, her person had struggled to care for her in the final weeks. She lost some weight in our care and was adopted a few months ago. Sadly, the other cat in the home did not adjust to Bailey’s presence, so she came back to us. This sweet, sensitive girl will be a wonderful addition to someone’s life! She has the cutest personality. While she mostly keeps to herself and does her things (such as people-watching or napping), once she knows you, she is very affectionate. She LOVES being brushed.

Brandi
Brandi is a five-year-old cattle dog mix with the cutest freckles and perky ears. She came to Second Chance after both of her owners sadly passed away. She was scared and confused, but has come such a long way!
Brandi lived with cats and dogs previously, with the proper introductions, she would likely make a wonderful addition to your pack. She was recently taken home on a trial adoption, but the person decided the time wasn’t right to bring a dog into their family.
Brandi can be a little slow to warm up to new people (especially men), but once she trusts you, she will be your best friend for life. She will need a home with no children.
Brandi is so smart! She knows sit, down, is house trained, good on leash, and is very treat motivated to continue learning. She loves toys, but most of all loves being near her people. She’s ready to snuggle up and be someone’s mellow new best friend.
Second Chance believes in giving our residents every chance to find their homes. Whether it takes a week or a year, we advocate for them to find happy homes. In addition to care and feeding, we have skilled trainers who work with them. We recently extended our shelter hours to seven days a week, and we have adoption events scheduled nearly every weekend.
