“Join or Die” looks at the work of famed social scientist Robert Putnam whose seminal book, “Bowling Alone,” argued that Americans were becoming increasingly isolated from one another. This alarming trend affects everything from our health to our democracy, something this fun, smart film explores. After the screening, representatives from Telluride’s Wilkinson Public Library will share information about the wide range of clubs currently available and explain how you can start a new club.

“Original Thinkers and Telluride Science make terrific partners because we share a deep curiosity about the world, and our film series reflects that,” said Holbrooke. “We are still working on the rest of the line-up for the winter, but the content will certainly provoke some deep and important conversations.”

Mark Kozak, Executive Director of Telluride Science, echoes Holbrooke’s sentiment:

“Partnering with Original Thinkers is a natural fit for Telluride Science because we share a commitment to sparking curiosity and fostering meaningful dialogue. With the Innovation Center as our home, we’re excited to open our doors to the community for stimulating programs that inspire new ideas and fresh perspectives.”

The series, which is free and open to the public, is held the third Tuesday of the month at the Innovation Center. Other dates are February 18 and March 18.

Donations to Telluride Science and Original thinkers are welcome.

“We are facing enormous societal challenges and know that more than ever, original thinking is needed to take these on. Storytelling and innovation are going to be key to that process, so this collaboration between Original Thinkers and Telluride Science could not be more timely,” added Holbrooke.
