Chamber’s off-season special, October 24, 7 p.m., The Alibi, is titled “Project Trio,” a genre-bending virtuosic group given their unique fusion of classical, jazz, hip-hop, and world-music influences. Tickets, $25.

The virtuosic, genre-bending PROJECT Trio will play a special off-season concert at The Alibi on October 24, 7pm. Composed of beatboxing flute, saxophone and double bass, this is not your average classical show! The trio pushes the boundaries of traditional chamber music with their unique fusion of classical, jazz, hip-hop, and world music influences. With a ticket price of just $25 for the event, Telluride Chamber Music and The Alibi created this show to be a celebration for locals during off season.

With virtuosic musicianship and contagious energy, PROJECT Trio has gained worldwide acclaim for their electrifying performances that captivate audiences of all ages.

The group has amassed over 100,000 subscribers on YouTube and had two albums appear on the Billboard Charts Top 10 for classical and instrumental.

The Trio is acclaimed by Downbeat Magazine as “packed with musicianship, joy and surprise” and “exciting a new generation of listeners about the joys of classical and jazz music.”

Gramophone Magazine singled out the group as “an ensemble willing and able to touch on the gamut of musical bases ranging from Baroque to nu-Metal and taking in pretty much every stylism in between.”

Flutist Greg Pattillo is recognized throughout the world for his redefinition of the flute sound and was lauded by the New York Times as “the best person in the world at what he does”. His groundbreaking performance videos on You Tube, showcasing “beatbox flute,” have been viewed more than 100 million times.

Both double bassist Peter Seymour and saxophonist Daniel Berkley have been recipients of DownBeat magazine’s “Outstanding Soloist Award” and between them have shared the stage with the world’s most highly acclaimed artists and ensembles from the Cleveland Orchestra and New York City Ballet to Wynton Marsalis and Bobby McFerrrin.

Though the evening concert is 21+, the students of Telluride School District won’t be missing out. As part of Telluride Chamber Music’s commitment to music education, PROJECT Trio will perform an education workshop at the Palm Theatre, 2pm on October 24.

Since the group’s formation PROJECT Trio has reached over 700,000 children through their unique and inspirational outreach.
