Ramsey family stuck in mud hole in Utah desert.

Monsoon season has come and gone and of course the much needed rain brings mudslides and travel woes. However, history reminds us of how truly lucky we are today. To see a fun commentary on early transportation challenges in our region scroll down to the “From the Archives” section.

During the stormy weather we enjoyed our two biggest fundraisers for the museum, the Telluride Dinner Party and An Evening with Ken Burns. Thank you to all who attended and supported us during these truly special and successful events.

Now the fall season is gearing up and there is so much to do with the museum! We’ve still got one more month of historical walking tours on Tuesdays and Thursdays, while our Lone Tree Cemetery tours kick off on Friday, September 6th at 1pm.

We encourage attendees to call to RSVP for cemetery tours in advance (and don’t forget our Lamplight tours in October do sell out). The last Hike into History of the year ends with an amazing collaboration with Telluride Mountain Club on September 7th. This moderately strenuous hike features the newly developed Eider and Mill Creek connector trail.

Finally, time to get cozy during our annual Fireside Chats which return on September 18th, September 25th, and October 2nd at the Madeline Hotel and Residences in Mountain Village.

The talks feature local authors and historians and are free and open to the public.

We hope to see you there!

Sincerely,

Your Museum Family
