Mountainfilm is committed to supporting documentary filmmakers in telling stories that support its mission to use the power of film, art and ideas to inspire audiences to create a better world.
Mountainfilm’s Commitment Grant & Emerging Filmmaker Fellowship initiatives are two additional ways Mountainfilm continues to support and nurture filmmakers.
Mountainfilm is delighted to announce that this year the nonprofit is awarding a total of $60,000 to filmmakers, with grants ranging from $5,000 to $1,000. The program has received generous support from Torri and Mark Savoff, and Jess Stevens and Stephen Pollard in honor of the life of Isabella de la Houssaye.
COMMITMENT GRANT
The Commitment Grant is focused on supporting documentary filmmakers in production or post-production stages. For this initiative Mountainfilm is looking for non-fiction stories celebrating adventure, activism, social justice, culture, environment and indomitable spirit. Applicants from any country are welcome.
EMERGING FILMMAKER FELLOWSHIP
In an effort to give early-career filmmakers much-needed support, Mountainfilm launched the Emerging Filmmaker Fellowship in 2018. For this program, the emphasis is on documentary filmmakers in production or post-production on their first or second documentary.
HOW IT WORKS
Mountainfilm is accepting applications from August 14 – September 5, 2024. Applications must be completed in full, including a video sample or trailer of the current project (no longer than 10 minutes). Incomplete or late applications will not be accepted. Notifications will be sent in mid-October. Mountainfilm promotes and encourages diversity behind the camera.
