Disco Swell is excited to open “The Disco,” a new pop-up custom hat bar and local art gallery hosted by Society Telluride on Main Street, 126 E Colorado Ave. The Disco’s Grand Opening takes place Mountainfilm weekend, Friday, May 24th.

Co-founded and bootstrapped by sisters Caitlin and Hanna Sappington, Disco Swell handcrafts custom hats are fashioned from scratch in Telluride and made to withstand the elements. Each hat was and will be created with soul and nostalgia sewn into the seams, drawing inspiration from the sisters’ love for California’s Golden Era of the 1970s.

Disco Swell’s millinery celebrates its roots: born on California’s coast and raised in Telluride. The company’s brand represents its own genre-unifying coastal and mountain cultures, with a 1970s spirit underpinning.

Built for mountain, river and sea, each hat is made by hand using the tried-and-truem traditional, handcrafted techniques from hat blocks to sewing in leather sweatbands and sculpting the shape.

Again, all pieces are fashioned locally in small, exclusive batches.

This spring and summer, join the team at the Disco and support local art and artisans!

Featured art collaborations include mixed-media artist Brooke Einbender (Mindbender Art) and photographer Alex Ferrari.

Visit the Disco and witness Einbender’s mind-bending, digital collage portal titled “Suspended on a Sunbeam.” The portal transports viewers into the gallery and hat bar, which will be showcasing a photo series  titled “524” by Alex Ferrari, all for the Grand Opening.
