“We’re ecstatic about this year’s group of artists. Every year the talent steps up a notch and this year is no different. We lead with a supergroup of New Orleans royalty, Dumpstaphunk, George Porter Jr., Leo Nocentelli, and Cyril Neville who will pay tribute to The Meters,” said Steve Gumble, Festival Director. “It’s guaranteed to be a special show here in our mountain town. We’re also looking forward to the debut of New Orleans rising stars, New Breed Brass Band. Recently, the group has achieved status of being GRAMMY-nominated. And we hope that in a few weeks the status will be upgraded to GRAMMY award-winning.”
Courtney McClary-Yug, Director of Operations added:
“Generational bass-jazz talent Christian McBride and four-time Grammy-winning African music icon Angélique Kidjo also make for fantastic headliners. Kidjo’s world-music mastery will be complemented by afro-beat icons Antibalas, while McBride’s improvisational jazz talent will flow with artists like Japanese-American trumpet virtuoso Takuya Kuroda and New York’s legendary Sexmob. We can’t forget to highlight the progressive and trending artists on the lineup such as Marco Benevento, Say She She and Karina Rykman, along with some familiar faces from Cool Cool Cool featuring members of the former funk Turkuaz.”
Telluride Town Park is renowned as one of America’s most scenic and spectacular live music venues. Nestled among the aspen trees and surrounded by majestic mountain peaks, festival artists get to perform on the state-of-the-art Main Stage. A secondary stage, the Society Stage, named after the 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that owns the festival, will feature free student artist performances in the center of downtown Telluride. These intimate performances aim to further the Telluride Society for Jazz’s mission of providing student education through music.
In addition, luxurious VIP and Patron experiences offer elevated culinary and cocktail aspects to the weekend. A fleet of special events round out the festival with free yoga sessions, morning jam collaborations, a free historical walking tour, cozy after hours shows and more.
