The Telluride-based San Miguel Resource Center is the region’s only nonprofit serving victims of interpersonal violence. The mission of the Resource Center is to eliminate sexual assault and domestic violence in and around the Telluride region and the West End.
The fall fundraising event dubbed “Clutch for a Cause,” created a few years ago by Kristin Holbrook of Two Skirts, takes place, again, this year Thursday and Friday, 9/14 and 9/15 (and online through 9/17).
The Big Idea is to recycle handbags and raise money (and awareness) for the outstanding work of the Resource Center.
There are various ways you can help.
Start by rummaging through your accessories and bring your old/forgotten/gently used handbags to Two Skirts. (Bonus: a closet cleanse!)
Next, stop by the event and purchase any of the 100s of donated bags. There are always designer goodies from Gucci or Prada, vintage treasures in lace and beads, and quirky finds like license plate or cigar box purses. Prices range from $5+ for recycled bags.
Been eying those designer bags in the store windows of Two Skirts? Now is the time to act. Again, all brand new bags, totes, clutches, and wallets are discounted during “The Clutch” and Kristin will generously donate the proceeds from those sales too.
Get yourself another bag, new or used, and support a worthwhile cause. You’ll look chicer – and feel good about yourself at multiple levels – because you did.
