The Telluride Marshal’s Department and Public Works will replace parking meters throughout the Town of Telluride beginning Monday, August 28. The replacement project is expected to be complete by Friday, September 1.

The Town’s new parking meters are equipment with convenient credit card payment options associated with the vehicle’s license plate. Additionally, mobile payment options will also be available through QR codes posted throughout the Town with text-to-pay available.

“The new parking payment system will introduce a simplified, more user-friendly interface,” said Code Enforcement Officer Jeanette Loven. “All proceeds from parking payments go toward the continued development and maintenance of the Town of Telluride.”

There will not be a lapse in payment requirements to park, as parking fees will be collected immediately after the new meter is installed. Drivers are encouraged to check their license plate information as invalid plate information will likely result in a citation.

ABOUT TELLURIDE

A former Victorian mining town in southwest Colorado’s San Juan Mountains, Telluride was incorporated in 1977 as a home-rule municipality. Set in a box canyon amid forested peaks at the base of the popular Telluride ski-and-golf resort, the town’s historic district houses landmarks like the Sheridan Opera House, a performing arts venue originally built in 1913, and the Telluride Historical Museum, which showcases local history in a converted hospital built in 1896.
