Atelier:

Atelier is artist Joanie Schwarz’s working studio and gallery space at 215 E Colorado Ave.

Schwarz’s artwork ranges from delicate 14k handmade gold jewelry to dreamscape-merged photography of old world Telluride.

All of Schwarz’s work questions what connecting means in a world where our sense of home seems to be a given in defining who we are.

Baked in Telluride:

Long-time Telluride local, Leslie Ross Crane, displays her newest oil paintings at her annual exhibit, “High Country Colors,” at Baked in Telluride during the month of July.

In addition to her love of natural settings and the Telluride area, Leslie’s fresh approach reflects her passion for life-long learning and discovery, and she finds scenes to which we can all relate. Leslie’s colorful paintings are always well received and Baked in Telluride is delighted to have her back for her ninth exhibition.

Bella Fine Goods:

For the July Art Walk Bella Fine Goods is featuring the following artists:

Nationally known artist Stan Natchez is acclaimed for his innovative and creative paintings.

Inspired by Andy Warhol, Jasper Johns, T.C. Cannon and other pop artists, Stan’s paintings exude the power of color and familiar objects. His canvases often begin with artifacts of American culture that either directly or indirectly reflect Indians. He then includes figures such as Native Americans, mission priests or cowboys. Intricate beadwork adds texture to bold works that emanate beauty and joy.

Stan says:”I paint the life I live and so every painting, in some way, is a self-portrait. My art is about you and the way I respond. That is my experience…my experience is my art…and art is my life.”

Utopia is a renowned Italian brand that reinterprets the most beautiful pearls, the precious gift of unpolluted nature, through contemporary Italian design. By merging tradition with avant-garde, with an in-depth knowledge of raw materials and a constant search for quality in every phase of processing, Utopia creates high-end jewelry collections with an unmistakable identity.

Between the Covers has been a haven for book-lovers and a community hub since 1974. Visit the new store and Bruno Café.

Crossbow:

Crossbow is a women-run business offering an experiential shopping experience featuring custom hats, handmade leather goods and beautifully well-imagined works from other inspiring artisans.

Visit Crossbow for a custom experience this summer.

Elinoff & Co.:

Elinoff & Co. is featuring the art of Eugenio.

Simply known as Eugenio, he is one of the most promising Peruvian artists working today.

Sprawling cities might seem boisterous to some, but for Eugenio a bustling city is a source of inspiration. Through a command of light and movement, Eugenio takes the ordinary trappings of urban settings — cityscapes depicting crowds of people shuffling through a brightly-lit street — and transforms the scene into something grander.

The Gordon Collection:

New to Art Walk, The Gordon Collection specializes in Native American jewelry, weavings and arts.

La Cocina De Luz:

La Cocina de Luz is featuring the works of Michael Mowery.

Growing up in the Front Range of Colorado in a loving and supportive family, creativity and the outdoors were never far away from Michael. He has always been interested in photography, enamored by the dazzling display of light, colors, patterns, lines, and space and how those elements come together to express emotion.

Telluride has been Michael’s home since 2004 and he is inspired daily by the amazing creativity and talent here in the Telluride Arts District.

This exhibition at La Cocina de Luz is Michael’s first gallery showing.

Mixx Projects + Atelier:

MiXX atelier’s July show, “Americanarama,” features artwork by Mitch McGee, David Kammerzell, Geoffrey Gersten, and Mark Andrew Allen.

Drawing on media and a blend of history and cultural nostalgia, these four artists each put a unique spin on the tropes of Western Americana, transporting the Wild West through time and into the contemporary conversation.

Informed by his dual backgrounds in woodworking and graphic design, Mitch McGee creates flawlessly executed paintings on hand-cut layered birch that draw on mid-century pop iconography and comic book cowboys.

In David Kammerzell’s exquisite oil portraits, a familiar cast of cowboys and girls enter unexpected narratives that soften the boundaries of time and place.

Through paint and collage, Mark Andrew Allen’s mixed-media works take the historic Wild West characters of his native Texas and centers them in a contemporary lens informed by the pioneers of Pop Art.

Finally, Geoffrey Gersten’s oil paintings are a poignant study in contrast, juxtaposing black-and-white photorealism and figures from a bygone era with modern patterns and palettes informed by that same Pop Art tradition.

Red Dirt Studio Gallery:

Red Dirt Studio Gallery is featuring paintings from Eunika Rogers, a local painter who works in found clay, wine and pigments collected on her hikes in San Juan Mountains and Telluride.

With her earthy palette Eunika creates large, realistic paintings of Colorado landscapes using the materials with which they were formed.

Rinkevich Gallery:

Rinkevich Gallery is featuring a special exhibition with photographer and textile artist, Lisa Anderson.

It’ll Come Back

Included in the show are small canvas prints and silk scarves featuring images of Telluride and Austin in highly saturated colors. As charming reminders of our two favorite locales, these 8×8” canvases add a pop of color to your interior and remind you of the happy places in your life. The gallery always has a great selection of Lisa’s silk and cashmere scarves, but this season she has reimagined the iconic Telluride and Austin locations in vibrant, LIVING COLOR.

Slate Gray Gallery:

This July, Slate Gray Gallery features two shows.

Sylvia Benitez returns to Telluride to unveil her solo exhibition titled “Every day I see majesty.” With over 10 recently completed paintings in her style of blurred landscapes with dreamy watery reflections and rolling hills, Benitez notes that this body of work challenged her to expand her “visual comfort zone” and abstract mountains from memories past.

Additionally, Slate Gray is presenting “In the Valley of Beautiful Surprises: A Group Exhibition Featuring Marketa Sivek.

Bright colors, bold patterns, and unexpected designs are all elements in the works that make up this group exhibition, titled after one of Marketa’s newest paintings.

“In the Valley of Beautiful Surprises” features the work of six artists with a focus on paintings by Marketa. Based in Chicago but born in the former Czechoslovakia, Marketa is visiting Telluride for the opening of the exhibition during Art Walk.

Tellurado Studio:

The Tellurado Studio is featuring the adventurous fine art of Markus Pierson.

Pierson explores a mythic narrative in his Coyote series, each piece symbolic of wanderlust and living beyond boundaries.

The protagonists of these hand-embellished prints are the coyotes: enigmatic figures searching for the next big adventure.

Telluride Arts HQ Gallery East:

Telluride Arts HQ East is featuring “History Carved in Stone,” an exhibition about the Transfer Warehouse’s past, present, and future.

The exhibition includes artworks displayed at the Transfer Warehouse from Britt Bradford and Flair Robinson, Chris Myers, Jack Plantz, Katy Parnello, MD Famous Artist, and more local artists.

Telluride Arts HQ Gallery West:

This July 2 – August 22, Telluride Arts is presenting “Organic Elements,” a group show produced in collaboration with Art + Architecture 2023.

Meander through private gardens and experience the landscape designer’s use of nature’s palette to create beautiful, personal outdoor spaces. In a similar vein, not only have the artists represented in this gallery exhibition explored nature as inspiration, many of them have also used elements in nature as tools for creative expression.

Telluride Arts will host receptions for Art Walk on July 6th and Art + Architecture on July 14th, both 5-8pm. There will also be an artist panel conversation in the gallery on July 14th from 1-3pm.

Telluride Distilling Company

Telluride Distilling Company features the landscape photography of Tyler Sandstrom.

Tyler moved to Telluride back in the winter of 2013 to continue pursuing his career in environmental education. After years of falling in love with climbing in the San Juan Mountains and canyoneering in the desert Southwest just beyond our backyard, he began to question the inherent selfishness of his risky adventures. He determined the best way he could share the joy he found in these remote places was by utilizing his passion for photography to capture the amazing moments he experienced in the outdoors.

In the summer of 2020, Tyler decided to finally invest in a professional camera to begin sharing the beautiful scenes he witnessed for those who may never have the opportunity to witness it themselves. He uses the moniker “Captain Nowhere” because, unlike many landscape photographers you see on Instagram, he wants to remove the ego from the art he shares.

Tyler’s goal is to convey the ineffable feeling of human insignificance when witnessing the incomprehensible combination of geological time, atmospheric phenomena, and evolution of life on this planet; Nature deserves all the credit, Tyler merely snapped the picture.

Tony Newlin Gallery:

The Tony Newlin Gallery features the nature and wildlife photography of Tony Newlin.

Room With A View!

This summer season the gallery is excited to present Tony’s newest photographs captured this past spring in the Serengeti. From the power of male lions, to giraffes grazing in the morning fog, to a large herd of elephants with babies, these images capture magical days of pure wilderness experience.

This summer season we are excited to present Tony’s New Release photograph captured this past year, Canyon Passage.

Wilkinson Public Library:

Telluride Arts is presenting a Wilkinson Public Library exhibition titled “Seasons,” works by local artist Gregory Deame.

Greg grew up in Massachusetts, but has lived in Telluride for over 20 years. His first art class was taught by his sister in his parents’ basement. Afterward, Deame learned to illustrate using technical pens while also studying landscape architecture at the University of Massachusetts.

After moving to Colorado, Deame began to expand the way he chose to render landscapes, now using ink, watercolors, and acrylic paint.

WOOF! Telluride:

Home of Gondogola, WOOF! Telluride (formerly Kamruz Gallery) is now located at 307 E Colorado Ave.

WOOF! Telluride features photography by Mary Kenez and local painters who capture the spirit of Telluride and Southwest Colorado.

The gallery hosts unique and humorous creations that represent the ever-so-active, hippy-happy and sometimes a bit quirky Telluride lifestyle.
