Dear friends of the Sheridan Arts Foundation,
Calling all musical theater lovers! The Sheridan Arts Foundation is holding auditions for Meet Me in St. Louis, the 1944 classic musical starring Judy Garland and the third annual Not-So-Young People’s Theater production. The Not-So-Young People’s Theater was founded in 2021 to put on one splashy musical a year with community members of all ages. Last year’s sold-out production of The Sound of Music had a cast of 29 community members, as young as age six, including parents, kids and couples all acting alongside one another.
In “Meet Me in St. Louis,” it is the summer of 1903, and everyone in the Smith family eagerly anticipates the opening of the 1904 World’s Fair. Over the course of a year, the family’s mutual respect, tempered with good-natured humor, helps them through romance, opportunity, and heartbreaks. The musical includes seven of the best-loved songs from the film, plus ten additional Martin and Blane songs written specially for the stage. Memorable musical numbers include Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, The Boy Next Door, The Trolley Song, and Whenever I’m with You.
