20 Jun Minerva Theatre Company: 2022 Season Opens with “Shrek the Musical!”
Shrek the Musical will run June 23-25 at 7:00 pm and June 26 at 3:00 pm, at the Ouray County 4H Event Center in Ridgway. Tickets, $12 for adults; $8 for students, are available online at minervawest.org. The Minerva Theatre Company opens its 2022 season with Shrek the Musical. This “Little to Big” production brings youth and adult actors together for an annual spring/summer production. The youngest actor in Shrek is just seven-years-old, with the upper age topping out near 70.
Local community members involved on stage and behind the scenes include Chris Andrews, Alice Billings, James Bingham, Linda Browning, Nick Coman, Annabel Clarke, Anlee Collier, James Collier, Mae Collier, Roran Collier, Spring D’Angelo, Mark Daniels,Teya Dow, Dina Gaspari, Meghan Gaspari, Sam Grothaus, Olivia Heyward, Ryder Hines, Ninah Hunter, Emma Kalff, Nate Kissingford, Wolfe Karsh, Lauren Mahlin, Kathleen O’Mara, Brenda Ratcliff, Kate Rolston, Levin Smith, Susannah Smith, Aidan Sterling, Dory Wick, Nate Wick, Tera Wick, Evan Young, and Liam Young.
“Our mission at Minerva is to provide equitable performing arts opportunities to all in our community, while inspiring creativity, community and a sense of belongingness,” says Kathleen O’Mara, Art Director. “It is exciting to present Shrek as our first performance as it embodies this mission by including all ages with all levels of acting abilities.”
Minerva West has also scheduled a three-week Minerva Youth Theatre camp. Running July 11 through July 29, it will culminate with a performance of Aladdin on July 30 and 31. The show will be held at a new outdoor venue at Adobe Inn in Ridgway. Registrations and ticket sales will be available online soon.
